Dear Friends in Solid Ground –
Last June, orthodox Lutherans and Anglicans met together during our respective national conventions in Winnipeg for fellowship, prayer and mutual support.
Much has happened since, with churches leaving ELCiC and others parting ways with the Anglican Church of Canada (ACoC). While some of us have taken a stand by separating ourselves from the theological decay in our former church structure, others remain both within the ELCiC and ACoC to continue the struggle of calling these churches back to authentic Christian teaching and practice.
From your website, you clearly have been following the activities of the Anglican Network in Canada in providing a home for Anglican churches that have determined they can no longer remain within the ACoC. While this transition continues to be an intense spiritual struggle, we are so grateful for God’s provision and blessing. So we plan to celebrate all that God has done and will do.
On April 25-26, members of the Anglican Network in Canada will be gathering near Vancouver for a conference of celebration and commissioning. Our new Archbishop, the Most Reverend Gregory Venables will be coming up from Buenos Aires to join us. We also anticipate participation by several other leaders of the global Anglican Communion.
We are inviting friends from other Christian traditions to join us Saturday afternoon, April 26, for a time of celebration, expressing our gratitude to God for the mighty work He has begun among us. We would be delighted if representatives of Solid Ground would join us as well. We value the relationship begun in Winnipeg between members of our respective organizations and would like to build that friendship for the furtherance of His Kingdom.
Date: April 26, Saturday
Location: South Delta Baptist Church, 1988 - 56th Street, Delta
(Tsawwassen), BC
Information: www.anglicannetwork.ca/conference_0408.htm
For the Saturday afternoon service, there is no need to pre-register and no cost.
Our prayer is that God will be pleased to use us in the days and years ahead to help ignite spiritual revival in Canada and, where needed, in the Anglican world.
