Eastern Synod Bishop Admonishes Congregation
It is the ELCIC’s policy http://elcic.ca/Human-Sexuality/Motions.cfm that, “A self-declared and practicing homosexual is not to be approved for ordination and, if already ordained, is not to be recommended for call”. And yet, according to a recent news release http://www.lutheransconcerned.ca/articles/ecp2008_04_20.html ("First Extraordinary Ordination In Canada") issued by Lutherans Concerned in Canada (LCIC), a member congregation of the Eastern Synod http://www.holycrosslutheran.ca/Main.htm , has issued a call for a self-declared and practicing homosexual to be an associate pastor at their congregation, an action which is to be followed up by an ordination service http://www.holycrosslutheran.ca/Docs/2008-OrdinationInvitation.pdf to be held on May 16, 2008.
The bishop of the Eastern Synod has responded with a letter to the congregation http://www.easternsynod.org/docs/2008/Letter-to-Congregation-April-30-2008.pdf urging and admonishing them to refrain from proceeding with the ordination and advising them that if they do so, he will be obliged to take further action in response to this violation of ELCIC policy.

Solid Ground Forum at BC Synod Convention?
Solid Ground Forum at BC Synod Convention? Not This Time For nearly a decade, as committees and councils of church and synods have introduced motions that question or deny the tradition of the church that homosexual activity is sinful, Solid Ground and its predecessors have asked for time and opportunities to be recognized and present the case for the church's tradition at Conference, Synod and National events. This account from the BC Synod tells how another such a request was initiated, handled, and ultimately rejected. More . . .
